Looking at routing in #BengalOS I stumbled over an issue at #NetworkManager that explains why Linux clients started having problems on my home wifi: via #DHCP I sent a router (option 3) and a static route (option 121).

Background: at the time of configuration I used a VPN connection while connected to my wifi that routed 192.168.0.0/16. I needed one /24 subnet to be routed over my default gateway. The static route for the class-c net had the smaller netmask and overruled the class-b route for the VPN-connection.

After the change I was missing a default route, added it to NetworkManager as a local entry and had been done until stumbling over it again with a new installation.

Now I know … 😉
