@me @pocketvj @fsfe @fsf I read a post somewhere here on the fedi, that someone (from the FSF? didn't know the name, but know no one from FSF) allegedly said (in an interview? a talk about the project?) they would be using Android as a basis and make it free be removing the non-free stuff and replacing it we free stuff.
At least that's what I under stood. Didn't bother to look any further. I am already looking at #pmos
@me The "rumors" might all be based on this: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45503262
@pocketvj @fsfe @fsf The key to this is that the hardware is truly FOSS. With FOSS hardware and a (really) mainline kernel you can put on top the system that best suits you. People who need maximum compatibility with applications from the rest of the world will be able to opt for Android. If there is no such opportunity to choose, it will continue to be a niche mobile. The key here is to be able to choose.
@fsfe @fsf
why do you not partner up with #PostmarketOS for your LibrePhone Project?
if you start building something on android, it will never be free as in freedom.
i am honestly very disappointed and it would be nice to get a statement for the whole #linuxmobile community.
thank you!
